Public sector workers

Public sector workers

The public sector is the part of the economy concerned with providing various governmental services – services such as the military, police, public infrastructure, public transit, public education, along with health care and those working for the government itself, such as elected officials.  This also includes civil service and local government workers.

The Labour Party believe in the responsibility of the state to provide essential public services for the benefit of all.  Delivering these services require a well qualified, well trained, well paid, motivated workforce.

Labour will reverse the underinvestment in public services and seek to stop the wage freezes seen across the public sector since 2010.

With the end to privatisation and new policies being developed under Workplace 2020, Labour Party will enhance the wellbeing of public sector workers.
